Canyon Springs, Moreno Valley, Valley View, and Vista del Lago High Schools were all ranked in U.S. News and World Report’s annual Best High Schools.
Canyon Springs, Valley View, and Vista del Lago earned spots in the Top 40 percent of High Schools. The 3 schools are eligible for the Best High Schools badge.
According to a news release from U.S. News and World Report, the designations take into account college readiness, reading and math proficiency, reading and math performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rates. It explains that the college readiness category measures participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.
“Our schools being recognized for their high performance if something to celebrate,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, “We are providing the resources needed to ensure our students are successful.”
There were more than 23,000 schools reviewed nationwide, with 17,000 schools being placed on the rankings list. Of the 17,000 ranked, only the top 40 percent are eligible for the “Best High Schools” badge.
“We have some of the best schools in the state and nation,” said Board President Jesus Holguin, “These medals validate that success.”
