Divina Elbo personifies the MVUSD Portrait of a Graduate. She combines her joy of teaching,
her love for science, and passion for students to produce successful students who are able to
communicate, collaborate, think critically, be creative, adapt in various situations, and persevere.
Divina is in her 12th year at Canyon Springs High School after teaching in the Philippines for nine
years. For every student that struggles with science, they find success in Divina’s class. Her lessons
are so creative and engaging, with real-life practical applications. She enables students to grasp
concepts in a rich academic environment. Divina Elbo’s impact goes beyond the classroom walls.
She runs MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) where students explore STEM careers
and participate in various competitions. In addition, Divina provides students an opportunity to
participate in AP Readiness with UC Riverside. She embodies Excellence on Purpose.
