State Testing and Assessment

Technology, Innovation & Assessment is dedicated to supporting school sites and parents. We are a vital component of the District's instructional program. Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment are linked, and together we provide a comprehensive teaching and learning program.

We are approaching a new era in standardized testing and accountability. The California Department of Education transitioned to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the new student assessment system - the California Assessment for Academic Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

Students in grades 3-8 and 11 participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessment system. CAASPP includes administration of the Smarter Balanced assessments for Mathematics and English-language arts; California Science Test (CAST) in grades 5, 8, and 12; and the California Alternate Assessment (CAA). In addition, students participate in physical fitness testing in grades 5, 7, and 9.

California's accountability system is based on multiple measures that assess how local education agencies and schools are meeting the needs of their students. Performance on these measures is reported on the California School Dashboard.

As we continue our "Excellence on Purpose" mission, Accountability & Assessment is available to assist and support parents, teachers, and administrators to shine brighter!
